My husband & I are headed to Milwaukee at the end of the week for Summerfest! We’ve visited Milwaukee several times over the last couple of years and with it being just 90 minutes away from Chicago it’s the perfect one night getaway.
There are so many options when it comes to where to stay in Milwaukee. If you’re feeling the retro vibe I recommend Hotel Metro! It’s located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee with large rooms and many amenities. I’ve also heard great things about The Iron Horse Hotel. I haven’t stayed there yet but it’s definitely on my list!
The best place to check out is The Historic Third Ward. It is filled with shops, restaurants, galleries and much more! Stop in The Wicked Hop for a Basil Berry Bubbler or sit on the rooftop and enjoy the huge beer selection at Cafe Benelux!
There’s plenty to do outside of Third Ward as well. Looking for the best Bloody Mary in the city? Check out Sobelmans!
There’s also many breweries with tours available in Milwaukee. We checked out the Lakefront Brewery tour a few years ago and had a blast. It’s a little off the beaten path but nothing a short Uber ride can’t fix.
If you plan a head Summerfest is a great time to visit Milwaukee. It’s a huge outdoor festival with free concerts after paid admission. They also have headliners play the fest for an additional cost. Last year we saw Florida Georgia Line. Even if you don’t pay to see the headliners it’s fun to walk around and very family friendly.
